How does car sharing work with DriveNow?
DriveNow's free floating car sharing system combines great fun on the road with fantastic flexibility. Rent a car, whenever you need one and drop it off when you no longer need it! Every car in our fleet is fun to drive consisting of only BMW and MINI models. Learn how easy car sharing is in Budapest and how to get started.

Register online or via the DriveNow app. There is a one time registration fee of HUF 9 990.
(remember your PIN number you will need it for your first rental)

Activate of your account
Send us four pictures in the app to identify yourself, one of the front side of your driver's license, one of the back side of your driver's license, one of your address card where your home address is shown and a selfie together with your driving licence.
Then once approved you can start renting cars with the DriveNow app on the go!

Always ready – here's how to reserve your first DriveNow car

Whether you need a car during the day or at night, DriveNow cars are parked all over the Budapest DriveNow Zone – ready for you to jump in and drive off! No dedicated pick-up and drop-off points, just complete flexibility!
You can locate your nearest car in a flash, using your smartphone or tablet. It pays to be quick though – a car can be reserved for you for up to 15 minutes before you need it. You can also reserve the car you want for up to 8 hours – at a cost of HUF 33/min.

How can you tell if the car is ready to rent? With our traffic-light system! A reader on the windscreen shows different coloured lights depending on the availability of the car.
- Green: the car is available for rental.
- Yellow: the car is currently reserved.
- Red: someone else has rented the car.

Which car do you fancy? Would you like to rent a BMW, or is a MINI more your style? DriveNow always has the right car ready to go – whatever you need it for!
All cars can be opened and locked using the app. Simply tap the “unlock” button in the app to unlock the car that you have rented. To start your rental get in the car, and enter your PIN in the app or on the car screen. Then, simply press on the start/stop button, (while your foot is on the break or clutch) sit back and enjoy the drive!

Filling up your DriveNow car
All fuel charges are included in the price at DriveNow! However if you car is running low on fuel, you will be able to refuel at any of our partner fuel stations. When the fuel tank falls below 25% and you refuel the car and your account will be credited with 20 bonus minutes.
To receive these bonus minutes, the fuel level will need to be over 90% at the end of your rental. For all BMW i3s, you will not tbe able to charge the cars, our service team will recharge them for you.
Good to know: You will be able to find all of the partner fuel stations under “Special Destinations” on the sat nav.

Taking a break
You are able to park up your car, without giving it back. Simply choose "Park and Keep" on the display or in the app and lock the car using the app. Wait for a couple of seconds, until the light turns red. The car is reserved for you now for the same price per minute as car model. The parking rate does not apply between midnight and 6 a.m. on weekdays.
Did you know? Cars can also be left in parking mode outside the DriveNow Zone.

When it comes to dropping off your car, you benefit from the flexibility and convenience of DriveNow. You can leave it for free in virtually every public parking spot within the DriveNow Zone; You don't need to pay for a parking ticket with DriveNow. If special parking rules do apply, you can read about them on our parking guidelines page.
Lock the car by clicking “Lock” using the app and wait a second or two until the light turns green. It’s as simple as that. Now it’s time to get out there and start driving now!
Budapest DriveNow Zone
- The Budapest DriveNow zone stretches to Óbuda and Újpest on the North, to Örs vezér square on the East, following the Hungária körút towards Kelenföld on the South-West.
It stretches out to the bottom of the Buda Hills on the West - mainly district II and XII.
- What the colours mean:
Within the blue line - Area where cars can be found and parked.
Turquoise – Additional fees can be charged for renting and parking.
Red – Not allowed to end rental
Parking guidelines
Within the DriveNow Zone you will be able to find available cars as well as be able to park. The only exception is where you can park, is in private car parks, multi-storey car parks, parking spaces with time restrictions, and parking zones with specific parking regulations, such as disabled spaces, unloading zones or taxi parking spaces.
